Some astronomical facts influenced the formation of the idea of the origin of the Earth. The logical chain of reasoning was this: the shape of the continents shows that there was a global destruction of the planet. Do not clash with something big, namely, the gap of the planet in half.
Such a gap could be realized in the solar system only four planets - gas giants.
Jupiter is the most suitable for this function. He is the largest. He is closest to both the Earth and the Sun. To get into his gravity, the Ancient Planet should have been much closer to Jupiter than the modern Earth.
There are two possibilities.

Uranium was closer to the Sun than Jupiter. Jupiter is farther from the Sun than now. The orbit of Uranus was approaching Jupiter. At the next convergence, Jupiter pulled Uranus to him so strongly that he threw it into the outer orbit, while expanding the axis of rotation in space. Jupiter itself was thrown by Uranus into a modern orbit, closer to the Sun, the distance is proportional to the masses of the planets. The former orbit of Jupiter is 869 million km. He became closer to the Sun by 91 million kilometers.
From the contact of Jupiter with Uranus, the Ancient Planet, which was a companion of Jupiter, suffered. Its orbit has undergone so much distortion that it passed very close to Jupiter and was torn apart by tidal deformations in the powerful gravitational field of Jupiter.
